No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. – Proverb

Spring is full of promise. From the flowers pushing up from the broken earth to the baseball teams leaving training camp believing this year will be the year, spring is the season for hope.

After three significant snowfalls, I’m ready for spring and the promise it brings. So far, spring is not disappointing.

Spring means a warmer breeze. It means the opportunity to run outside where I can breathe in the fresh air as the sun splashes on me. Spring means grilling burgers, after-dinner walks with Mary Beth and sleeping with the windows open.

Spring is witnessing what has been dormant, is now coming back to life.

What about you? What’s your favorite thing about spring?

I asked The BridgeMaker Facebook community the same question. Here are some of their answers:

Tracy: “The world seems to come to life in the spring. It’s fresh and new and filled with possibility!”
Carina: “The different tones of green, the wonderful sensations of walking during sunsets.”
Lynn : “The smells of life re-awakening!”
Lisa: “The first sighting of bluebirds!”
Erica: “The start of all of the spring sports leagues! My son is back to playing baseball, and I get to play soccer. It’s great to get outside to play with our friends!
Annette: “Blooming of flowers and baby animals.”
Sheri: “It feels like a fresh start – the trees budding, sun brighter, and the snow melts to reveal the beautiful flowers that are coming through.”
Carly: “The landscape changing from dead and brown to alive and green.”

My Favorite Thing

More than the budding trees; the greener grass or watching my hometown baseball team win in the ninth inning; my favorite thing about spring is a little more reflective – a little more personal.

My favorite thing about spring is the reminder that a new beginning is always possible.

No matter my faults or mistakes; no matter how hard life seems to come down on me, I can choose to start again; I can choose to find a new path out.

The warmer days and longer nights. Things feel lighter in spring.

My favorite thing about spring is the complete renewal of everything. I love watching the grass grow back to green and the trees starting a whole new crop of buds. It’s an amazing gift that God has given to constantly allow everything to “start over”.

New beginnings in nature. Warm days where you can be outside and enjoy all it has to offer. Being able to work in the garden. Watching my dog be in the moment, happy to just be sitting outside, or enjoying a long walk with her.
