Smile, Be Joyful and Pack a Positive Attitude

If you don’t think every day is a good day, just try missing one. – Cavett Robert

A positive attitude is one of the greatest assets you can have. People may not always look at what you do but they’re looking to see how you do it. When you have a pleasant demeanor about yourself, it makes people want to warm up to you and find out what you’re all about. If you have a sour and bitter attitude about life, no one will want to be around you.

The power of your smile

A pleasant attitude can work wonders for you in more ways than you know. People who smile appear more friendly, outgoing and more approachable. It even works in the workplace. I heard a statistic that people who smile more get promoted more often and maintain more stable relationships.

When you smile, you tend to get breaks that others don’t get. I heard about a family who was looking to hire a babysitter to take care of the kids. And after the long process of interviewing, they came across many qualified candidates. However, the candidate they chose was a 60 year old lady. In the natural, she wasn’t the most qualified. She didn’t have the credentials.

On paper, it looked like she shouldn’t have been picked for the position. But what the parents like about her was her attitude. She smiled always. It seemed like no matter what the kids did, she laughed and thought everything was funny.

What did she have going for her? Her pleasant demeanor.

Her attitude took her places where her qualifications and credentials didn’t measure up.

Smile and be joyful

A positive attitude can indirectly cause doors to open. People who have a joyful countenance have an upper hand over other more qualified candidates. You can be qualified, you can have all the “know-how” and experience, but if you have a sour attitude about life, that can be the set-back that keeps you from reaching your full potential.

Your smile may be the one thing you have going for you but rest assured, it’s one of the most important. Just like the babysitter, you may not be qualified, but your attitude can open up doors of opportunity that your qualifications and credentials don’t meet.

Your pleasant demeanor can cause others to want to go out of their way to give you good breaks in life.

Always strive to have a great attitude in every area of your life. Smile and be joyful always. John 16:33b says, “In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer.” Regardless of how things look, make a decision to be of good cheer and watch your life change for the better as you charge forth on your journey of life!
