Seven Powerful Techniques to Ignite the Fire Inside

Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion.” -Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel

The passion that burns in our souls helps to sustain us through difficult times. This fire creates the energy necessary to overcome obstacles and solve problems. It also creates the momentum to take us closer to fulfilling our goals and realizing our dreams.

Sometimes, however, the fire that fuels our passion flickers and burns out. We become discouraged, we feel hopeless and we may give up. When this happens, we need to find a way to become reengaged; to become recharged.

The following seven techniques to ignite the fire inside can become the fuel needed to get going again. Consider these techniques as a roadmap; a blueprint of sorts, for creating and living a life that is truly your own, a life filled with success and happiness – a life on fire with purpose and passion.

First Technique: Make a Commitment.

The act of binding yourself, intellectually or emotionally, to a definite course of action.

So, what are you doing with your life? Would you say you are on track and living your dreams or are you struggling each day to make it through the best you can without bringing out the best in yourself or others? Are you simply existing rather than living? Are you are a human doing rather than a human being?

Commitment means to lock-in to what you want and allow nothing to get in your way. When setbacks and obstacles happen (and they will) you need to reframe the circumstances until you see a solution and a path forward. Believe deep down in your soul, your gut, you are capable of seeing your dream realized.

Success in life does depend on taking action. The catalyst for the action is your dream. Your commitment is the method from transitioning from the mental creation of the dream to the physical manifestation of it. At the end of the day, you will find yourself as a human being who and what you are capable and have always dreamed of being.

Second Technique: Keep An Open Mind.

The willingness or readiness to receive impressions or ideas.

Once you have made the choice to make the commitment to pursue your dreams, you will soon see something wonderful begin to happen in your life – the Universe will actually begin to help you achieve it. You just need to keep an open mind and be ready to receive what you have asked for and what is in store for you.

By keeping an open mind and keeping your positive-energy valve wide-open, you will soon experience that people will begin to enter your life who will take an active and direct role in helping you realize your goals and dreams. Likewise, events will begin to develop and unfold which may seem like coincidence at first, but as times goes and you find yourself closer to your dream, you will realize these not to be accidents, but part of what contributes to your purpose in life.

When you carry your dream within, you will be able to touch the hearts of the people around you and help to ignite the fire in them, too.

Third Technique: Be Persistence.

The act of continually pursuing something in spite of obstacles.

If having a dream and planning its course is a journey, then persistence is the engine that keeps you going, no matter the obstacles or dead ends encountered along the way.

Persistence is what keeps your legs under you when the waves are crashing against your body and the undertow is determined to knock you down and carry you out to a dark and unforgiving sea. Persistence is your life ring, your hope and your inner voice that tells you to never give up.

Translating your dreams to a tangible plan takes action. It also takes awareness that the actions will not always be easy. There will setbacks and pain along the way.

Persistence is a choice word. When you do encounter an obstacle, you can either choose to hang in there and keep fighting, or succumb to the temptation of quitting. You may choose to avoid the discomfort and do nothing. However, I would suggest doing nothing and quitting would cause the greatest amount of pain.

Fourth Technique: Be Flexible.

A measure of the ability to respond to changes in demand.

In order to find success in our lives we need to pay attention to what is working and what is not. We need to find a way to do more of what is working in order to get more of what we want. This shift in position – to change you position, is the essence of flexibility.

A wise person once said, “If you always do what you’ve always, done, you’ll always get what your always got.” A variation of this statement provides a succinct definition for insanity as “the definition of insanity is doing what you always done, but expecting different results.”

The point of both is that if you want to experience change in your life, then you have to be willing to change. Many times what keeps you from becoming flexible and open to change is you are afraid to move out of your comfort zone.

To step outside of your comfort zone is to step through fear. On the other side of the fear is growth and success. Becoming flexible allows you to navigate through the fear, because the fear of never changing or never reaching the dream inside of you may provide enough motivation to take the first step.

Fifth Technique: Have Faith.

A strong belief in something without proof or evidence.

At the end of the day when you are weary from all of the effort and energy you have expended on working towards accomplishing your goals, but the dream is not yet realized, the one thing that tells you to keep going; to get up tomorrow and keep at it, is your faith.

There will be people who tell you that you not capable of achieving your dream. They will fill you with lies and tell you are not enough. My friend, you are more than enough. You are worthy, capable and destined to find whatever you are looking for in your life. Too often, this negativity comes from people who have chosen to give-up.

These are the people who once had a dream but have now settled for something less.
These are people who have been gradually worn down by life and their dreams have been reluctantly vanished from their hearts and souls. Those dreams may indeed live somewhere, but they no longer seem attainable. In short, people who tell you can’t do something are hopeless themselves. These are the people who have lost their faith.

Have faith that you will make a difference in this world. Have faith that this world will be a better place because of your presence. Have faith that you are going to make it!

Sixth Technique: Show Thankfulness.

A positive emotion involving a feeling of indebtedness.

To understand the power of thankfulness you need to remember the premise of the Law of Attraction which states “like attracts like.” Therefore, by seeking to always maintain an “attitude of gratitude” you are telling the Universe you appreciate what you have been given and you are ready to receive more.

Thankfulness and gratitude generate positive energy in your life. There is no question it is easier to be thankful about your life when things are going well. But, how do you turn things around when you are not getting the results you expect? An important answer is to show more gratitude for what you do have rather than show disappointment for the things you do not have.

Consider all of the relationships in your life for a moment. Think about your co-workers, your friends, your children and your partner. You have the power to move any difficult relationship to a more positive one by using gratitude

Seventh Technique: Live Your Passion.

Your heart’s one true desire.

Typically when we think about passion we also think about the heart. It is in our hearts we hold our deepest desires and passions. Pursuing these desires, we believe, will lead us to the happiness, success and fulfillment we really want. To acknowledge your passion is to live your life’s purpose and to live your heart’s true desire.

To find your heart’s true desire is a very simple process. Make a list of things you want to be or want to accomplish. Be honest with yourself. This is your list and is not meant to be shared with any one. Pour your heart and soul into this list. The one item that jumps off the list and makes your begin to cry is your passion.

Follow this, honor it and never get up on it. Your job in the beginning is not to try to figure out why this one has touched you so deeply. Your job is stay with it and sees where it takes you. The final destination will be one of great relief, comfort and accomplishment. Don’t give up and don’t give in – keep listening to your heart and allow it to take you where it needs to take you. Your happiness will be on the other side.

You are truly a unique person. No else possesses the qualities and attributes you do. Your laugh, your reactions and your life experiences are your very own. Just as you have your own DNA code, you also have your own and exclusive purpose in life. You have been pre-programmed for this purpose. By living this purpose, you will realize your greatest successes.
