Part of running a blog means sorting through a lot of emails and other messages. While most are business-related or an encouraging word from a reader or friend, several each day are just plain spam. Other emails can make me stop in my tracks and pay attention to the message. I received one of those kinds of emails today.

Maria Elena Escasiñas, from Cebu City, Philippines, is being called to serve and shared the following with me:

I would like to share a desire and a dream of mine since I was high school and I hope you don’t mind. Hope you can share this is your website if you like. It has been my dream to come up with an orphanage.

But, I know it’s hard to come up with it for it needs a lot of budget. Nevertheless, financial restraints won’t deter me. I believe in God’s time and will, He will provide. As for now, I plan to put up a mini-library in the rented house where I live with my parents.

I often see a lot of kids in my neighborhood, who don’t have the chance to go to school. In that, I feel so sad for them because it seems they have been deprived of a bright future. No education is mainly the reason why crimes are high. Though, as a teacher myself, I don’t want to them to end like that. I believe they still have a chance.

So I’m now knocking on your kind hearts, perhaps you have or you know of someone who has a lot of used children books and old, unwanted stuff toys. Their rubbish might be our treasure for the mini-library. So, please extend the word in your spare time. Thank you so much and hoping this won’t be of a much burden to you.

God bless! To God be the glory!

Maria Elena

Hey Maria, unfortunately I’m not able to donate anything, but I do wish you all the best in your path. It is a great cause and the universe will support you in it. Sooner than later you will start seeing signs of synchronicities :)

I wanted to post her FB link on all this, but her profile displays nothing other than her friends and I see no way to connect. Might ask her about that or clue me in what I am missing – would like to share this story with friends in as concise a means as possible.

Barring that I will snip and ship the info to a few who might contribute and encourage others. thanks for sharing this opportunity to serve.
