Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One who is leading. – Oswald Chambers
It’s been four years since I attended a church service. Other than a couple of weddings and a funeral, my church attendance has been sparse. It may seem counterintuitive that a faith-based blogger doesn’t go to church, but the last few church experiences haven’t felt comfortable.
Lately though, I’ve felt the nudge to try again. When Mary Beth and I get back from vacation next month, we’ve decided to look for a new church home. I’m looking forward to this new journey in my spiritual growth.
Over the last four years, I’ve relied on listening to Christian artists like Brandon Heath, Matthew West, TobyMac, and others to find inspiration. I plug in their music when I write and listen on my morning run. These songs are spiritually sustaining for me.
I also read quotes from people who demonstrate their faith through their words and actions. For me it’s not important what their religious affiliation happens to be – it’s more important how they lived their lives and how they shared their wisdom along the way.
These are 15 faithful people who inspire me. I hope they inspire you, too. No matter where my wife and I find a new church home, these words will always help me keep my faith strong.
