Very nice post. It's very timely and, at least for me, hits the mark where it truly matters. The recession has everyone concerned about money and this concern is destroying many relationships. Hopefully, people will be wise and realize what truly is important in life.

Those qualities are so important in a relationship Lorraine but most of us need to work at them. Self teaching by reading and rereading tips such as these are a big help. They present such good advice about friendship and dealing with personal differences and difficulties, so important to a happy life together. St. Francis' prayer is a gem.

On forgiveness and acceptance I like this about marriage from Joseph Addison, "Two persons who have chosen each other out of all the species with a design to be each other's mutual comfort and entertainment have, in that action, bound themselves to be good-humored, affable, discreet, forgiving, patient, and joyful, with respect to each other's frailties and perfections, to the end of their lives."

@ Thank you for your comments Barb. I beleive these qualities are essential in any relationship to cultivate trust and authenticity.

@ Hey Ralph. Thank you! I love the prayer and I have a CD by James Twyman that is full of his rendition of 12 different orayers. Hearing him sing this prayer warms my heart. I'm also reminded on the quote by Ghandi " We must be the change we wish to see in the world." and remember we are more powerfull than we realize to breathe love and Light on the planet.

Blessings to you all for a Happy Thanksgiving!

Great post Lorraine! The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi is fantastic. I absolutely agree with your statement about how the outside world is a reflection of who we become on the inside. Thanks for sharing.
